Welcome to your ultimate Labor Day Weekend guide.

Just because Labor Day doesn’t usher in a new “season” in South Florida doesn’t mean we don’t pull out all the stops each year. This weekend is jam-packed with holiday weekend-worthy events, like world class rappers throwing a concert to benefit Haiti, A-list DJs at the SLS pool, and a Little Mermaid-themed pop-up bar. All that and the release of a new beer made with plantain chips highlight the best stuff going down in South Florida this weekend.

Catch Future, Lil Uzi Vert, and Kodak Black raising money for Haiti

Friday, September 3
The Oasis
There are loads of ways you can help survivors of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Easily the most fun, though, will be hitting up this benefit concert starting at 7 pm. The all-star lineup includes Future, Lil Uzi Vert, and the guy whose name inspired Cardi B’s breakout hit “Bodak Yellow.”
Cost: Tickets run $100 per person

Make Spice twice as nice with our Miami Spice Deal of the Week

Friday, September 3 – Sunday, September 5
Seawell Fish & Oyster
The fabulous seafood spot at the Kimpton Anglers in South Beach gives you the chance to do both dinner AND brunch at a deep discount. On Friday or Saturday, you can head in for swordfish with green apple, heirloom baby carrots and a habanero glaze. Then return for brunch on either weekend day for crab benedict and lemon ricotta pancakes.
Cost: Dinner is $42. Bunch is $28

Break in the new restaurants at the old Firestone

Friday, September 3 – Monday, September 6
Firestone on 15th and Alton
Remember that old Firestone station that would patch your tire and then watch you roll away in a questionably-safe vehicle? Dave Grutman does, and he’s taken the place over with a swanky new sushi denretro diner, and bakery from Dallas Wynne. It opens this weekend to great fanfare and hopefully better safety standards.

Crush a beer made with… plantain chips?

Friday, September 3 – Monday, September 6
Veza Sur
Only in Miami would a local brewery team up with iconic green bag plantain makers Chifles to create a beer infused with actual plantain chips. The result is a surprisingly refreshing blonde ale, not to mention a true feat of chemistry. The extremely limited batch will be available at Veza Sur all weekend.
Cost: No cover; menu prices vary

Party like it’s March as the SLS Pool

Friday, September 3 – Monday, September 6
Hyde Beach at SLS South Beach
Hyde Beach is making up for the Miami Music Week we missed, with an insane lineup of DJs taking over the turntables overlooking the SLS Pool. Sofi Tucker headlines on Friday, followed by Duke Dumont of “Ocean Drive” fame on Saturday, MAKJ on Sunday, and Thomas Gold on Monday.
Cost: Ticket prices vary

Wander South Florida’s best museums for free

Friday, September 3 – Sunday, September 5
Various locations
It’s the first weekend of the month, which means it’s once again time for Bank of America’s Museums on Us. If you’re new to the calendar, that means you can show up at spots like PAMM, HistoryMiami, the Bass Museum, and other local treasures, bust out your B of A or Merrill Lynch credit or debit card, and get in gratis.
Cost: Free

Celebrate Brazilian independence with 14 different Caipirinhas

Saturday, September 4
Wharf Miami
We’re not saying you shouldn’t observe official Brazilian Independence Day on September 7, but if your workplace frowns on intermittent samba dancing and deskside cocktails on a Tuesday, perhaps kick the part off at The Wharf. They’ll be pouring 14 different types of caipirinhas all day, with $25 caipirinha pitchers and Cotes de Provence Rose specials.
Cost: No cover; menu prices vary

Flex your local cred at a Clevelander pool party

Saturday, September 4
The Clevelander
You know how you can tell the locals from the tourists in Miami? For one, the locals will be the only ones who recognize Power 96 personality DJ Zog at Saturday’s Clevelander pool party. And also the only ones scoring 20% off all food and drink, effectively negating the “tourist tax.” Valid Florida ID required, so newbies, head to the DMV, stat.
Cost: Tickets start at $20 per person

Enjoy a cocktail “under the sea”

Saturday, September 4 – Sunday, September 5
Miami Ironside
Ariel stans, take note: There’s a month-long Little Mermaid-themed cocktail bar taking over Miami Ironside starting this weekend. But before you dust off your Ursula costume, know this one is modeled after the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale, which skews a little, er, darker than the Disney adaptation. Either way, the hour-and-a-half “submersive experience” will be done up in intricate undersea décor complete with mermaid-inspired cocktails.
Cost: Tickets run $68 per person (includes three drinks)

Savor National Cheese Pizza Day with free and discounted slices

Sunday, September 5
Eleventh Street Pizza and Wharf Miami
For pizza purists, Sunday might be the holiest day of the year, when National Cheese Pizza Day celebrates the artisans who can make pies sing without dressing them up with toppings. Eleventh Street Pizza is dishing out slices at half price all day, and the Wharf will hand you a free slice between noon and 4 pm if you RSVP ahead of time.
Cost: No cover; menu prices vary
