Märzen is the malty/amber precursor to the pale modern day Oktoberfest lager. Historically, this beer was brewed in March and “lagered” (or stored) until Oktoberfest, resulting in an exceptionally clean beer.
In Germany, only breweries within Munich are allowed to call their beers “Oktoberfestbier”. We call our interpretation a Märzen-festbier out of respect for this tradition.
Our Märzen-festbier is a medium bodied lager with an initial malt sweetness that is quickly overtaken by a balancing hop bitterness and dry finish.
Top quality floor-malted Munich and Vienna malts contribute rich complex flavors of bread and toast with underlying hints of hazelnut.
